Christine > Day 67: Mango Margarita March 8, 2009 I went to the Olive Garden with my mom for dinner. It was a good 45 minute wait so we headed straight for the bar where I ordered a frozen strawberry mango margarita with sugar around the rim. Yum! As you can see, I couldn't resist taking a few sips before I whipped out my Nikon. Between the frozen drink and the salad, I couln't finish half my meal so Ken gets some awesome leftovers. :)
Christine > Day 162: Daisy June 12, 2009 One of my two favorite flowers (the other being Black Eyed Susans). The lighting conditions were less than stellar- it had been raining most of the day and was gloomy and cloudy. I had to jack up the ISO to get an acceptable shutter speed since it was breezy and I didn't have a tripod with me. Not as good as I had hoped but I liked the idea of it.
Christine > Day 133: Dandelion May 13, 2009 Not really sure why the background is so dark. I took it with a field of green grass in the background. I took many shots, some of which I posted in my Alternate PAD gallery. With the same slight adjustment of the tone, some backgrounds appear black and others blue. I can't figure it out but I like the way it highlights the white fuzz and the light.
Christine > Day 113: Dandelion April 23, 2009 This is almost SOOC. It was a decent shot before opening it in Photoshop and simply clicking the "auto tone" (the same function I inquired about in yesterdays post). This single (and very simple) action turned a well back lit greenish background this unusual blue and I liked it. Thanks to everyone that gave me suggestions regarding yesterdays auto tone post. SonoLady- I did join Jeff's new critique group and was thrilled to find it. James - you have always provided me with great insight, information and suggestions and as always, I appreciate it. :)
Christine > Day 54: Ice Box February 23, 2009 This is a very old ice box.... when I met my husband it was in his barn exposed to the elements. I instantly fell in love. A lot of time and elbow grease later I stripped all the layers (there were several, including some milk paint) and re-finished it. It is my most cherished piece of furniture. One of the things I like best about it is the chunky old hardware.
Christine > Day 210: Old Car July 30, 2009 I took this photo a couple of days ago but only got around to processing it tonight. If you haven't already noticed, there are 2 self portraits. Both for no charge. ;)
Christine > Day 158: Stuffed Peppers June 7, 2009 My mom used to make this dish for my brothers and I growing up. It was a staple so I decided to add it to my cookbook. I had a hard time picking the photo of a day, my second choice can be found in my alternate gallery. As always, recipe can be found on threebitesfoodblog.com. :)
Christine > Day 31: O'Puss' smudged nose January 31, 2009 I guess it's not nice to have a favorite but I can't resist O'Puss' nose with the cute little smudge on it. I used to dislike cats (having grown up with a dog). About 10 years ago I was visiting my mother a week or two after a stray cat gave birth to a litter of 3 kittens. She encouraged me to go see them sleeping under a bush. I had no interest. She suggested it again and again and again until I went outside and started making the typical "psss psss psss" noise with the hopes of waking them and getting them to come out from under the bush. This guy was the first and only one out. He ran right over to me while making that adorable baby kitten high pitched sound (MEW! MEW!). "Shoot!" I said to myself. Now I'm a cat owner. That little Charlie Chaplin smudge of a mustache was too cute not to take home. Kramer, my black cat, wouldn't come out from the bush and instead stayed snuggled next to his mother. I reached in for him and fell instantly in love. True to nature- Kramer is still the one who snuggles close to me while O'Puss is the more adventurous. These two forced me to change from cat disliker to cat lover with the potential of being one of those crazy cat ladies with 50 cats. My husband is the one that talks me down when I talk about adopting another kitten. :) As are 99% of my photos, this one is SOOC with the exception of a slight crop.
